Life’s Reflections

Roy Milton Jr. was born March 13, 1957, in Kansas City, Missouri. He was the first of four children born to the union of Roy and Opal Virginia Preddy-Milton.

Schgade as he was affectionately called, was educated in the Kansas City, Missouri public school system attending Mary Harmon Weeks Elementary, Martin Luther King Junior and graduated from Paseo High School in 1976, where he was a member of the basketball team. He was very athletic and won numerous basketball trophies and events. He furthered his education attending welding and culinary school.

Roy was employed at Plumann’s Trail Mobile as a welder, Costello’s Restaurant as a cook and most recently at Donnelly College as a Janitor.

He was baptized at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church at an early age. He loved to make people laugh and smile. He enjoyed family, friends and especially his nieces and nephews. Some of his favorite things were sports, music concerts, cooking, attending dances and parties. He loved to D.J. and entertain his friends and of course the ladies.

On Thursday August 27, Roy made his transition from this life to a better life. He was preceded in death by his father Roy Milton, Sr., brother, Kevin Lamont Milton, maternal grandparents Edna Lowe and Paul Preddy, paternal grandparents Irma R. Henderson-Milton and Thomas L. Milton.

Schgade leaves to cherish his memory daughters, Alisha Batson; and Chyna Milton of Kansas City; son, Lamont Milton of Las Vegas; grandchildren, Airrion; Arlisha; Alesecio; Alijah; Amon; mother, Opal Virginia Milton of Kansas City, Missouri; sister, Deborah Ann Milton of Raytown, Missouri; brother, Toney Milton (Yolanda) of Kansas City; uncle, Paul Preddy of Omaha, Nebraska; nephew, Kevin Long; nieces, Amissa Long; and Susan Long of Raytown, Missouri; brother in law, Anthony Long and Family; Schgade will be lovingly remembered and missed by aunts, cousins, a host of friends and co-workers.
