Leslie C. Washington was born June 9, 1965 in Kansas City, Kansas to the Union of Henry L. Washington and Dorothy M. (Bell) Washington. His parents preceded him in death.
Formerly known as “Les” he was a lifelong area resident. He received his formal education in the Public School System of Kansas City, Kansas, graduating from F. L. Schlagle High School in 1983.
Leslie was very involved with the Consumer Recovery Movement, in the mental health field for over 23 years. Les held several positions at the Wyandotte Center for Community Behavioral Healthcare, and S.I.D.E., Inc. until his health failed him.
Les was an avid sports fan of all sports. He also enjoyed listening to music and dancing.
Leslie professed a hope in Christ and was baptized at Pleasant Green Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. David L. Gray.
He departed this life on January 6, 2016 at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his partner in life, Cherie Bledsoe of Kansas City, Kansas; two sons, Turence Sloan; and Leslie C. Washington, Jr. (Kalisha), both of Kansas City, Kansas; one brother, Michael Johnson (Robin) of Kansas City, Kansas; three sisters, Jacquelyne Johnson of Haymarket, Virginia; Trisha Campbell of Kansas City, Kansas; Traci Newbill of Arlington, Texas; three stepchildren, Vernon Bledsoe, of Louisiana; Cherie Bledsoe and Cicely Bledsoe of Kansas City, Kansas; He had nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; a host of nieces; nephews; and other relatives.
