George Lee Gatson, Sr., 65, passed away on Nov. 10, 2016, at his home in Blue Springs, Missouri. He was born on December 19, 1950, in Strong, Arkansas, to Minor and Helen Gatson. George grew up in Kansas City, Kansas, where he spent countless hours of his childhood playing sports.
George joined the Air Force in 1970 and served for seven years. He served in Thailand and was honorably discharged in 1977, achieving the rank of Sergeant. For many years, George enjoyed working at the United States Postal Service alongside co-workers who became close friends.
George lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures: watching movies, dogs, photography, playing dominoes, solving Sudoku puzzles, driving fast vehicles (cars, trucks, motorcycles, toy cars and ATVs alike), and most of all, his greatest pleasure in life: spending time with friends and family.
George was preceded in death by his father, Minor Gatson. George is survived by his mother, Helen Gatson; brothers, Minor Charles (Laurie) Gatson, Sylvester (Barbara) Gatson, and Gary Gatson, sister Tyjuania Gatson, children, daughter Michele Lewis; second wife, Jeanette Gatson, and their children, Janelle Gatson; George (Lisa) Gatson, Jr., and Janiece (Stéphane) Richard, first wife Jackie Gatson, and their children, Ayanna Gatson and Kimmell Gatson, his grandchildren, Tyler Garner, De’Bryontea Gatson,Kennedy Garner, and Breala Gatson, plus, two great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
