Myrtlee Bowles
Myrtlee Bowles 80, was born in Haskell, Oklahoma in Muskogee County on April 17, 1937 to L. G. Durant and Daisy (Ray) Durant. She attended school at R. T. Cole School, Kansas City, Missouri.
On December 11, 2017, she quietly passed away at her home in Edwardsville, Kansas. Her parents; stepfather, William Hudson; sister, Clardell Sims; brother, Eddie Durant; and son, Demon Bowles preceded her in death.
Myrtlee married the love of her life Mr. Prentis Bowles in 1964. She retired after working many years at the Lenexa, Kansas J.C. Penney Distribution Center.
Spending time with her family and hosting the holiday gatherings at their home was a joy. She also loved traveling to the family reunions, cooking, fishing, sewing, going to garage sales and helping others. Mother Bowles was a faithful member of Fellowship Christian Church under the leadership of Pastor Warrick Graves and a member of the Disciple Women Ministry where they loved her homemade Strawberry and Lemon cakes.
She will be missed by her family, church family and her friends at DaVita Dialysis center. She was known for checking on the patients when they were ill. She cherished her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a very special Aunt Marzetta Wade of Atlanta, Georgia, one Uncle Oscar Durant of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Precious memories will be cherish by, her devoted husband Prentis Bowles, Sr. of 53 years; three daughters, Drameta (Donnie) Tisdale of Kansas City, Kansas, Billie Ray Holmes of Ocala, Florida; Denise Daniels of Kansas City, Kansas; one step-daughter, Paula (George) Kemper, Sr. of Kansas City, Kansas; two sons, Prentis (Naomi) Bowles, Jr. of Leavenworth, Kansas; William (Wanda) Bowles, Sr. Kansas City, Kansas; a very special niece who is like a daughter, Karen Barzar of Melissa, Texas; missing her dearly are sixteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; many nieces, cousins and friends.
