As a member of Mu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., I was shaped, molded and developed by and through many but few had as much impact as Mary Washington who was there, always until her body gave out. Mary had joy in her but she was also direct and correct and like EF Hutton, when Mary talked, everybody listened... and learned. I extend my personal condolence and as the Courtesy Chair of Mu Omega condolences from the entire chapter of which Ingrid Hubbard is president.

My prayers are with the family of my friend, Mary Washington. I long admired Mary and how she handled the business within our organization. She was a role model for me and many others. I will remember the many conversations I had with her and how she would pull me aside to privately discuss the finances. She was the women with the answers. She had a special way of working with members of all ages.
She was a true original, she will be sorely missed and her legacy will continue on.

(2 Corinthians 5:8) It is indeed with a humble heart that I extend to you, the family of my sorority sister, mentor and friend..Mrs. Mary E. Washington my heartfelt expression of sympathy. She had a spirit that was unique, a 'no nonsense' approach to life and a genuine interest in providing service and scholarship to the community. She was a leader that had a commanding presence and she delivered sensibility in the area of policies, procedures and finance. She will be sorely missed but her impact will linger forever.
