Dunbar Anderson, Jr.
(AKA- Dunie or Andy)
Dunbar was born February 19, 1935 in West Point, Mississippi and came to Kansas City, Kansas when he was only 6 months old. Dunie attended elementary school at Dunbar; Northeast Junior High, and Sumner High School. He also attended Maple Wood College.
Dunie loved Jazz, he could name all the instruments that was being played. He had just about one or two tapes from the different artists, he would transfer all his large 33 albums to tapes until CD’s came out. He just loved his music.
He liked boxing and pro basketball, an avid pool player which was a great outlet for him. Several people talked about how good he was.
Dunie was employed by TWA, where he retired, in November 1997 with over 40 years of loyal service.
Dunbar was preceded in death by parents, Dunbar Anderson, Sr.; mother, Evelyn Louise (Johnson) Adams; and stepfather, Kenneth Adams; daughter, Anita Louise Carter; brother, Harvey L. Anderson, Sr.; and Lawrence Collins.
He is survived by his wife, of almost 56 years, Carlameta; sons, Michael Anderson of Kansas City, Missouri; and Deondre Anderson of Oklahoma City; daughters, Christine Young (James); Lovie Estell; both of Kansas City, Kansas Marcia Miller of Marietta, Georgia; Tasha of Sacramento, California; and Cynthia Anderson of Kansas City, Missouri; 14 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; aunt, Velma Chandler (Jimmy) of Washington, D.C.; brother in law, Reverand Dr. F. L. Jordan (Carolyn) of Kansas City, Missouri; sister in laws, Kathleen Anderson of Riverside, California; Odester Collins, of Chicago, Illinois; and Bobbie Nell Tolden of Oakland, California; very special cousin, Missouri (Mo) Collins; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; and many, many friends.
