Life’s Reflections of

DEACON LEMOYNE JONES, SR.

Deacon Lemoyne Jones, Sr. was born January 29, 1941 in Dumas, Arkansas to Johnnie and Vivian Jones.  He was the oldest of seven children. 

His father, mother, and one sister, Jonether Walker, preceded him in death. When Lemoyne was 8, the family moved to the Argentine District of Kansas City. 

 He received his education from Lincoln Grade School, Northeast Junior High, and graduated from Argentine High School in 1959. Deacon Lemoyne Jones entered the United States Marine Corps from 1960 to 1966, achieving the rank of Corporal (E-4).

He married the love of his life, Dixie Lee Spears in 1966. They were happily married 50 years. To this union two children were born, Lemoyne Jones, Jr. and Deondra L. Townsend.

Deacon Lemoyne Jones was a hard worker whose professional career includes the Coco-Cola Corparation for 11 years and the Pepsi Cola Corporation for 11 years where he retired. 

Deacon Lemoyne Jones was an active member of Second Baptist Church, where he joined at the age of 11 under the leadership of the late Reverand Roy A. Reed.  As a member, he served as a Deacon, Baptist Training Union director, Sunday School Teacher, President of the Brotherhood, Bus Ministry, Good News Club, and as the church custodian for over 30 years.  Deacon Lemoyne Jones Sr. loved fellowshipping with his friends and families.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Dixie Jones, one son Lemoyne Jones, Jr. of Kansas City, MO, one daughter Deondra L. Townsend (Lamar) of Chicago, IL, 4 grandchildren, Raven, Lamar III, and Royce Townsend  all of Chicago, IL and Elizabeth Jones of Kansas City, MO, 2 sisters Beuilah Reid, and Evon Jones both of Kansas City, KS, 3 brothers Melvin (Silvia) Jones of Herndon, VA, Cleophas (Juanita) Jones and  Timothy Jones both of Kansas City, KS, and 4 additional brother –in- laws, and 6 additional sister- in- laws, a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
