Yolanda (Yogi) Denise Byers
Ms. Yolanda (Yogi) D. Byers, 51, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 12, 2020, surrounded by family and close friends.
Yolanda was born in Kansas City, Kansas on June 18, 1968. Yolanda attended JC Harmon High School and graduated in 1986. She earned an Associate’s Degree from Kansas City, Kansas Community College and was an Alumni of Baker University, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree.
Yolanda married DeWitt Byers and to this union two daughters were born, Cheyenne Denise Byers and Cydney Nicole Byers. Yolanda was preceded in death by her parents, Verlia Lee Redwine and Richard Elbert Birt; one brother Richard Jasper; great grandmother, Roberta Powell; grandmother, Beulah Westmoreland; aunt, Deborah A. Ross; and great-aunt, Evelyn Marie Wilson, all of Kansas City, Kansas.
In 2011, she transferred with AT&T to Atlanta, Georgia where she accepted a job as the Ethernet Communications Technician. She dedicated 32 years of service to the company and retired in March 2020.
She was a loving mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved to socialize, skate, two-step and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was a member of a Social Club, Divas In Motion. Before moving to Atlanta, Georgia, she was a member of The Eighth Street Baptist Church and Concorde Forest of Hope. After moving to Atlanta, she joined Friendship Community Church in Atlanta, GA where she enjoyed hearing the word of God, music ministry, and interacting with church members.
She leaves to cherish her loving and devoted daughters, Cheyenne Denise Byers and Cydney Nicole Byers of Kansas City, KS; sisters, LaWanda (Leroy) Renee Blaylock, Kimberly (Chris) Prince, and Nacole “Nikki” Jasper of Kansas City, KS; brother, Richard Jamerson of Overland Park, KS; two nieces, Ashli (Damon) Dye of Lenexa, KS and Brandi O’Shae Fields of Washington, DC; great-nephew, Amari Dye of Lenexa, KS; special brothers, William Earl Weaver of Kansas City, KS and George “Shabba” Scarlett of Charlotte, NC; special sisters, Chereese Seifuddin of Chino Hills, CA, Lori “Sweety” Mouton, Raytown, Mo, Lydia Weatherspoon, Marla Hargrove, and Christine Ray of Kansas City, KS; Tresa Burks, Candy Simmons, and Monique Wyatt of Atlanta, GA; Karolyn Smith of Orange Park, FL; special nieces, Lorenn Benett of Raytown, Mo and Ielle Abram of Atlanta, GA and a host of nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends who deeply loved her and will forever cherish her memory.
