Willis Perry Tyus

Life’s Reflection

Willis Perry Tyus was born June 4, 1948, in Kansas City, Kansas to William Tyus and Ara Harvey Tyus.  Willis grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and went to Lillis High School in Kansas City, Missouri.

Willis worked many jobs, Superior Toy and Novelty in shipping and receiving, Liberty Tax, Superior Metal, and he was a window washer for AAA company.

Willis was raised a Catholic and he was a very happy and caring person.  He loved to laugh and have fun. He always called himself W. P. Tyus, he loved to play Domino’s and called himself the CHAMP.  He also loved all sports

Willis Perry Tyus 73 passed away September 27, 2021, at the University of Kansas City Medical Center.

He was preceded in death by his father, William P. Tyus; mother, Arla Harvey Tyus; brother, Marlon Tyus.

Willis is survived by his cousin, Bobbie (Charles) Pearson of Kansas City, Missouri; Suburi Imara of Atlanta, Georgia; Nia Latimore; Kalimoni Jwa Nairobi of Kenya, Africa; a host of cousins and friends.
