Wanda Jayne Coby Collins, age 95, passed away on May 14, 2026, at her home in Kansas City, Kansas.  She was born on September 16 1930 in Muskogee, Oklahoma, the only daughter after three sons, to Robert and Beulah Coby

Wanda grew up in Muskogee, Oklahoma, and graduated from Manual Training High School in 1948.  After high school, she attended Parsons Junior College (now Labette Community College) in Parsons, Kansas, where she studied music and secretarial training. She worked for Sears, Roebuck & Co. for over 30 years, and Dillard’s department store for 7 ½ years.

Wanda accepted Christ at a very young age and enjoyed working in the church, where she met the love of her life, William (Bill) Collins.  They were joined in holy matrimony on June 24, 1951, and to this union were blessed with six children.  They were happily married for almost 55 years when Bill passed away on March 18, 2006.  Wanda was a member of Mason Memorial Community Church, and she was an active member of the United Methodist Women ministry at University United Methodist Church prior to its closure in 2017.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Alvin Coby, Isaac Coby, and Alton Coby. She is survived by her children Boris Collins (Alice) of Holliston, MA, Wanetta Upshaw (Maurice) of Wilmington, DE, Ruth Collins of Kansas City, KS, Bernice Collins of Kansas City, KS, Bonnie Ewell of Kansas City, KS, and Willa Collins of Kansas City, KS; a nephew Bishop Malcolm W. Coby of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren Ieshia, Joel, Jamal, Rachel, Brandi, Joslyn, Kateri, and Kaleb; a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, numerous friends and relatives, along with her furry companion of 18 years, Georgie.
