Verland Terry Robinson, was the fifth of eight children born on March 13, 1952 to James and Elizabeth McAdams Robinson in Kansas City, Kansas.
Terry attended Dunbar South Elementary, Northeast Junior High School, and is a proud member of the Sumner High School class of 1970. He attended Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas, and graduated with honors in 1975 with a Bachelor of Architecture degree.
Following a brief internship he was hired by Leo A Daly Architecture. He spent 15 years traveling the world and building cities in places like Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Upon his return to Kansas City, he became President and CEO of Robinson Delivery Service. The delivery business founded in 1950 was owned and operated by James and Elizabeth Robinson. Under Terry’s leadership the business reached a higher level.
His civic leadership, and concern for his community lead him to become a member of several boards and organizations in the Wyandotte County community and surrounding areas, including, The Rotary International, The Red Cross, The Minority Supplier Council, The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, The Salvation Army, The United Way of Wyandotte County. The Sumner High School Alumni Association, and A Life Member of the K-State Alumni Association. He retired in 2016.
Like all of the Robinson children he accepted Christ, was baptized and raised at Trinity AME Church in Kansas City, Kansas. All of the Robinson sons were expected to work with Dad making sure everything was working properly, from the computers to the landscape.
Terry will be missed by his family and friends for his quick wit and easy-going personality. We will surely miss his I.T. skills and expertise, there was nothing he could not fix or repair, from a computer, phone, television, car, and all things electronic. Or even a broken heart, he would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.
Terry was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Frances McAdams Robinson, his Father James Monroe Robinson Sr. and his Brother James Monroe Robinson Jr. and is survived by two brothers Roy (Sylvia) Robinson, Kevin (Danita) Robinson. Four sisters, Linda R. Crain, Frances (Larry) Hunt, Cecelia (Frank) Harrison and Anita E. Robinson. A sister-In-Law, Frances B. Robinson, A special cousin, Keith Davis his road dog since they were born 4 months apart; nephews, nieces and a multitude of cousins, and friends. God has spoken AMEN
