Vinnie Lee (Tucker) Davis, 78, was an extraordinary wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. Born on November 9, 1945, in Cotton Plant, Arkansas, to Ernest and Rena Tucker (Campbell).Vinnie, a proud graduate of Cotton Plant Vocational High School in 1969, soon after she moved to Kansas City, where she excelled as a supervisor at a clothing warehouse and developed her sewing skills. However, she ultimately chose to focus on creating a welcoming and nurturing home for her husband, Mack Davis Jr., whom she was married to for 43 years, and their five children.
Vinnie was a truly remarkable woman, embodying strong values and a classic grace that touched everyone around her. Her greatest joy came from the time she spent with her family, where she created a warm and loving atmosphere that made all feel welcome. She was beloved for her legendary homemade peach cobbler and fried chicken, and her impeccable sense of style and fashion shone through her stunning collection of outfits and hats. A passionate advocate for education, Vinnie dedicated herself to ensuring that her children graduated from college, instilling in them the value of hard work and achievement. Beyond her family life, she was a devoted member of New Fellowship Baptist Church, serving as the president of the usher board for many years. Her unwavering faith and commitment to her community were an inspiration, even as her health began to decline. Vinnie's legacy of love and strength will always be cherished by those fortunate enough to know her. Vinnie passed away peacefully in the early morning of October 14, 2024, surrounded by her devoted family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Davis Jr.; her son, Aaron K. Davis; her parents; Ernest and Rena Tucker and three brothers: George Bynum Jr., Bobby Bynum, and David Tucker.
She is survived by two daughters, Alexia Davis of Kansas City, KS, and Shirley (Floyd) Owens of Batesville, AR; three sons, Anthony Mack (Jerupa) Davis Sr. of Shawnee, KS, Adrian Davis of Kansas City, KS, and Andrew Davis of Oklahoma City, OK; four brothers, Jimmie Ernest (Lucille) Tucker of Shawnee Mission, KS, Rickie (Sandra) Tucker of Kansas City, MO, Tommy (Angie) Tucker of Lacy, WA, and Dr. Thomas Stanley (Janae) Tucker; four sisters, Ernestine Tucker and Gwynda (Harold) McGahee, both of Cotton Plant, AR, Ruby Tucker of Kansas City, KS, and Mattie Jones of North Little Rock, AR; seventeen grandchildren (Johnathon, Ebony, Alexander, Aaryn K, Adrian K, Ukyria, Tateonia, Reneika, Andrew J, Karmela, Anthony Jr, Armando, Olivia, Joe, lan, Brooklyn, and Robert K); two great-grandchildren (Cassius and Tristen) and a large network of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
