Tonya Elizabeth Callands

Life’s Reflection

Our beloved Tonya Elizabeth Callands was born on November 2, 1967, in Tulsa Oklahoma to the union of Herman Willis Callands Sr., and Nancy J. Pringle.  Tonya passed away on March 20, 2023, after a long-extended illness. 

She was preceded in death by her father, Herman Willis Callands Sr.; son, Steven Dale Elias Jr.; grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Smith; grandson, Carion White; and her aunt, Joyce Elain Hart.

Tonya’s education was predominantly in the state of Kansas, Lowell Elementary, Eisenhower Junior High School, and Washington High School.  Tonya was a very smart child; teachers would give compliments on her achievements and grades.  Tonya attended Coffeyville Community College in Colleyville, Kansas receiving an associate degree.

Tonya was introduced to Christ at the age of six-year-old, as her mother took the family to church.  She was a proud member of the Maranatha Family Worship Center.

Tonya had passion for people, which lead her to work at various Women Shelters, and somewhere in her  time, training, and strength from within herself she learned the spiritual importance of  giving.  And this is why we see today that Tonya was a blood donor in life and an organ donor after life.

Tonya loved to cook for her family, especially when her cousins came to town.  She liked to listen to music, and she loved to dance.  She was a member of June Neal Dance Studio for several years.

Tonya leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter, Shanta La Sha Callands White; her son, Carl Joseph White; her mother, Nancy Johnson; two brothers, Herman Willis Callands Jr. (Stacy), Kansas City, Missouri; and Albert Aaron Johnson, Enid, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, Gerald G. Singh; Sydney P. Brenson; Symone R. Brenson; Montrey White; Lailah White; Drake White; Marquel White; and Kelsi White; one great grandchild, Gia Alivia Singh; nieces, MaLeaha Johnson; Marlisha Fennell-Callands; Hailey Callands; and Emori Johnson; nephews, Willis Wesley-Callands; Marcus Fennell-Callands; and Jordan Wilson-Callands; a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
