Life’s Reflection
Toni Jeanne Coston Turner was born into this life on December 24, 1943, the only child of the late Eugene Coston and Edmonia Lewis Coston in Salt Lake City, Utah later residing in Green River Wyoming. Toni graduated with honors from Summer High School in Wyoming in 1962.
Toni had a love of all animals and enjoyed swimming in the Green River of Wyoming with her favorite Collie Jodie, and later took her swimming talents to Kaw River Kansas. Upon graduation, Toni married Richard H. Turner, Jr. in January of 1963, and in December of 1963 they welcomed the love and joy of their lives, Richard H. Tuner III their only child. Toni and Richard were married for 42yrs until his death in February of 2005.
Toni started her work career selling Avon and as a nursing assistant. Leon Lemons with an eye for talent directed Toni into the world of banking. She rose quickly through the ranks of the banking world starting off as with bookkeeping, Head Vault Teller, the Real Estate department, Personal banker, and loan officer until she reached Assistant Vice President, Vice President interim CEO for 2yrs and finally ending her banking career as Vice President of Douglas National Bank of Kansas City, Kansas. Oh, but Toni was not done yet. After her banking career she entered the world of property management for Yarco Properties. During this time, she lost her husband Richard H. Turner Jr. but continued with property management until her health began to decline after suffering a stroke, and she retired after 15yrs.
Toni always thought of others before herself and would send books, trinkets, and cards in the mail to her friends near and far. She enjoyed spending time and treating her friends to lunch and she loved going to the Casino’s in hopes of “winning big” one day. She loved to dress and look good wherever she went, and even when her health declined, she never wanted to leave the house unless her clothes and hair looked their best.
Toni loved her “Richards” and after big Richard passed away, she made sure she had daily contact with her son. They enjoyed each other’s time and company until the very end including a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner last month at Bristol’s restaurant.
Toni leaves to mourn her wonderful legacy her loving and devoted son, Richard H. Turner III; Brother-in-law Gerald Turner (Betty); and a niece and nephew Keita; and Rodney Turner; a host of lifelong friends along with her cats that she made sure she loved and fed and cared for daily.
