Toianne Francuoise (Smith) Henry

Life’s Reflection

Toianne Francuoise Smith Henry, affectionately known as Toi, was born April 1, 1963 in Kansas City, Kansas.  She was the youngest of five children.  She was preceded in death by her father, Henry A. Smith; her brother, Harold L. Toombs, Jr. and sister, LaTanya G. Toombs.  She resided in Lawrence, Kansas. 

Toianne accepted Jesus Christ at age 9 and was a member of Strangers Rest Baptist Church.   She loved the Lord and her favorite things were singing Gospel music and sharing songs and sermons with others.  Her faith was strong, and she had a strong belief in the power of prayer.  As a child she was active in Sunday School, BTU and the Youth Choir.  She sang in the Gospel Choir and was a member of the Grief Ministry.  She shared her knowledge with the Strangers Rest Baptist Church Drill Team Drummers.

She attended Our Lady and St. Rose and Washington High School in Kansas City, Kansas.  She ran track at Washington High School.  She attended Wichita State University.  She enjoyed horseback riding and playing the drums.

Toianne met and married Steven Henry August 3, 1991 and to this union two children were born.

Toianne was employed at Multivac, Inc. in Kansas City, Missouri for many years.  She was employed by PROSOCO in Lawrence, Kansas.

Toianne was a very loving and giving person. Being able to help others or share whatever she had energized her.  Family was very important to her.  She loved animals.  Her sense of humor and her laughter will forever be remembered.  She participated in family reunions, weddings, and made it a point to visit and call her family members as often as she could.  She was also a great friend to many.

Toianne will lovingly be remembered by Steven A. Henry, Sr.; two children, Steven A. Henry Jr. and Carmen G. Henry; mother Carole (Harl) Newton; sisters, Glenda; Debra and Yolanda; brothers, Rick; Keith; Larry (Giebrieth) and Harl Jr. (Karey); grandchildren, Serenity Morris; Zayden, Zariah and Zayn Henry and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and so many people who called her friend.
