Telicia Renee (Jones) White

Telicia (Lisa) Renee White, 58, passed away on May 22, 25 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence, KS. She was born on January 15, 1967 in Kansas City, KS to Sam Jones & Shelby Johnson Seawood. Lisa grew up in Wyandotte. She graduated from Sumner Academy of Arts & Sciences in KCK class of 1985. After high school she attended college at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS where she received a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Lisa also earned several awards in the science & math fields.

Telicia began work for the KCMO Water Department as a chemist. She then worked for the FDA as an investigator. Thereafter, Lisa worked as a tax examiner with the IRS & as a substitute teacher for the USD 500 & KCMO school districts. Her time as an educator was treasured by many students whom she encouraged to become compassionate scholars. Lisa worked to support her cherished daughters. She retired in 2012 after 20 years of dedicated service. Telicia was involved in choir, child mentorship, & caregiving for loved ones.

Telicia married Maurice White in 1990 in Kansas. They were happily married for 3 years. Lisa was a member of 8th St. Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, science, music, sports, nature & wildlife. She was preceded in death by her parents Sam Jones & Shelby Seawood. Also preceded in passing by her stepfather Rev. Niles Seawood and brother Keith. Lisa is survived by her former spouse Maurice White of Kansas; her beloved daughters Raanee & Sabree White of KCK; her siblings Larry (Doris) Jones, Tammie (Rodney) Gentry, and Mike of KS; her nieces and nephews; & a host of other relatives and friends.
