Shirley Ann Thompson was born July 7, 1938, in El Dorado, Arkansas to the union of Fate and Beatrice Davis along with two siblings. Both parents preceded her in death. She accepted Christ at a very young age and was baptized at New Bethel Baptist under the leadership of Rev. Kelley.

She retired from M.E. Pearson in 1998 with a teaching career expanding for over more the thirty-four years. Retirement allowed Shirley to unconditionally love and care for her family full-time.
