Sandra Jean Robinson was born on Sunday, May 14, 1939, to Cornelius Holmes Sr. and Margaret Mae Jones-Holmes and began her journey in Kansas City, Missouri. She is the first child born of four children and was affectionately nicknamed “Guy.”
She accepted Jesus Christ at an early age at Mt. Zion AME Church in Kansas City, Kansas, and later joined Second Metropolitan Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member for over 50 years. She served faithfully as Superintendent of Sunday School, Sunday school teacher, and B.T.U. teacher, Usher board, Deaconess, choir member, and Scholarship committee. She was active in the Book club,Seasoned Saints, Motherboard, and Angel Food Department prior to uniting with Grace Temple Baptist Church, Kansas City, KS, under Pastor Roy L. Jackson Jr.
She was educated at Sumner High School in Kansas City, KS. In 1956, she married Roy L. Jackson Sr. That marriage was later dissolved. She worked in alterations at Sears Roebuck & Co. and the Betty Rose garment factory as a garment cutter and seamstress. She retired from the Santa Fe Railroad, where she drove a forklift.
Sandra is preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Robinson; her parents, Cornelius Holmes Sr. and Margaret Mae Holmes-Bailey; her stepfather, Marion Bailey; and her brothers, Cornelius “Butch” Holmes and Gene Arnold Holmes.
She leaves to cherish her memory her last surviving sibling, Charlotte Hazel, six children Sandra Ann Lewis, Roy L. Jackson Jr (Cynthia)., Cindy Jackson, Margaret Jackson, Marian Robeson (Dennis), Christina Jackson, step daughter Harvetta Kashka and step son Harvey Robinson Jr. Ten grandchildren, Ten great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and a plethora of cousins, extended family and friends.
