Sheila Diane Douglas was born to Shirley Baker Douglas and Charles A Douglas Sr. on December 25, 1958, at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.
Sheila attended Dunbar and Hawthorne Elementary Schools, Northwest Junior High School, and Ward High School. She graduated from Schlagle High School in the Class of 1976. She also studied at Donnelly College.
She worked many jobs before reaching her final career with seventeen years of service at the Internal Revenue Service. She believed in hard work and continued to work there until her passing. Sheila was Baptized on March 22, 1959, by Rev. Elmer W. Newton at Trinity AME Church which began her journey towards a deep and lifelong faith. Sheila was a valued member of the church for many years . She served as a member of the Missionaries and was President of the Lay Organization. Her dedication to the church and these organizations was unyielding. Sheila had a special interest in the youth of the church. She made sure that the youth of Trinity were fully involved in the activities of the Lay Organization both locally and at the District Level. Sheila had a gentle soul and was so proud to be of help and service to others.
She deeply loved her family and spending time together. Sheila also enjoyed visiting with extended family members including her Aunts, Uncles, Cousins as well as Friends. She was the one who called all of the family, those near and those far away just to check on them. She remembered everyone’s birthday.
Sheila transitioned from her earthly home for her heavenly journey on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at Providence Medical Center.
Sheila is survived by her parents, Charles and Shirley Douglas; Brother Charles Douglas Jr. (Shawn Boelter); Sister Sharon Douglas; Niece Sharelle Mitchell; Nephew Jarelle Easterwood, and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and Friends.
