SANDRA KITCHEN Obituary

Sandra Renee "Pat" Kitchen, a beloved longtime resident of Kansas City, KS, departed this life on August 11, 2024, at the age of 64. Born on June 26, 1960, to Mr. Elmer Cook Jr. and Merriam Kitchen, Sandra lived a life filled with love, compassion, and dedication to her family and community.

Sandra has now reunited with her loving parents, who preceded her in death. She is also joined in eternal rest by her sister LaVonne Cook, brothers Byron D. Kitchen, Odis Moran, George Madison Kitchen III, and Gerald W. Kitchen, grandmothers Luvenia Cook (Paternal) and Lucille Medley (Maternal), and nephew Gerald W. Kitchen Jr.

Her warm presence and kind spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Sandra's memory will continue to live on through the lives she touched and the love she shared throughout her 64 years.

A proud graduate of Sumner High School's class of 1978 in Kansas City, KS, Sandra was an active member of the drill team and choir. Her professional journey began at Firemen's Fund Insurance, followed by positions at St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Company, Commerce Bank, and FedEx. Sandra took a leave of absence to become the primary caregiver for her mother during her illness, demonstrating her selfless nature. Upon returning to the workforce, she worked for Hughes Development before concluding her career with an 11-year tenure at Clinical Reference Laboratory until her retirement in 2012.

Sandra's faith was a cornerstone of her life. Baptized at age 10 at Walnut Blvd. Baptist Church under Rev. Charles Askew's leadership, she served as an usher for 11 years. She later joined Emanuel Baptist Church in Kansas City, MO, under Bishop W.H. White Sr., where she drove the church bus and served as President of the faith usher board for 22 years. At the time of her passing, Sandra was a devoted member of Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church in Kansas City, MO, under Dr. Wallace S. Hartsfield Sr.'s leadership. Known for her passion for shopping, cooking, baking, and cleaning, Sandra touched many lives with her warmth and dedication.

She is survived by her siblings Louis Moran (Roberta) of Colorado, LaTonya Cook of Illinois, and LaVelle Battles (Michael) of Kansas, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special mention goes to her niece Alesha Cade and dear friends Vanessa Joel (Darnell), Susan Shields, and Tammy Sambol, who will all profoundly miss her presence.

Sandra's love, kindness, and the cherished memories she created will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
