Ruth Elijah

 March 7, 1965 – May 31, 2023

A Time to Be Born: Ruth Elijah was born on March 7, 1965 in Beaufort, South Carolina to the late Jack Watson and Lula May Frazier.

A Time to Die: Ruth departed this earthly life on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center in Smyrna, Tennessee.

A Time to Build: Ruth was a graduate of Battery Creek High School in Beaufort, South Carolina, Class of 1983. Shortly after graduation she relocated to Kansas City, KS where she attended AVTS (Area Vocational Technical School). After graduating from AVTS she worked for KU Medical Center for over 20 years as a medical coding specialist. She was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend C.L Bachus.

A Time to Love: As her life continued to blossom, she met the love of her life, Ivory D. Elijah Sr. They were blessed with thirty-three wonderful years of bliss and blessings. God blessed them to travel across the breadth of the country. They shared a joy of watching Westerns together.

A Time to Plant: Under the direction of the Holy Spirit, she and her husband moved their membership to the Oak Ridge Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Ricky D. Turner. Ruth was a faithful member where she served in the young adult ministry, youth ministry and sung in the choir. After relocating to Tennessee, she and her husband joined the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Jerry D. Marable. There she was a faithful member of the Deaconess Ministry.

A Time to Love and Laugh: Ruth had a natural gift for decorating, gardening and thrift shopping. To know her was to love her because she always had a loving, warm and magnetic personality.

A Time to Mourn: Ruth leaves to cherish her memory, a devoted husband, Reverend Ivory D. Elijah, Sr.; devoted children:, Ivory D. Elijah, Jr., and Deidra (Lawrence) Barnes; devoted mother, Lula May Frazier; sisters: Cynthia “Cyn” (Isaiah) Cummings and Jennifer “Bena” Frazier; brothers: Clarence “Gulla” Frazier and Warren “Knuckle” Frazier; special sisters/cousins: Rose Marie Frazier Chisolm and Marilyn Washington Wilson; other siblings: Latevia Williams Green (Nate), Ladonmore Williams, LeVanda Williams, Jack Watson and Marva Watson; a best friend, Stephanie Walker; along with a host of other family members and friends.
