Rose Marie [Gordon] Johnson, 96, passed away peacefully on Sept. 6, 2023 at her home in Kansas City, Kansas section of Parkwood Park. Members of the family and the Harbor hospice team were present to help ease her journey to the gates of heaven. She died of complications related to lung cancer and dementia. At age 12 she accepted Christ into her life when she was baptized by the late Rev. T.H. Wicks.
On Jan. 27, 1927 Rose was born to the late Marcellus and Mariah [Edwards] Gordon in Prague, Oklahoma. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband [Frank I. Johnson, Sr.], and her sister [Ruby Lee Coffey]. Her pride about being a registered nurse for more than 40 years was one of her single greatest accomplishments. “My mother sacrificed a lot for me to become a registered nurse. I just enjoyed being able to practice the ethics and principles of the nursing profession as a ‘missioner of health’”.
