Robert Scroggins, Sr. Obituary

Robert Cecil Scroggins. Sr., a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather, and friend transitioned into the arms of the Heavenly Father on May 4, 2026, at his home in Kansas City, Kansas.  Born on January 19, 1942 in Hill City, Kansas.  Robert lived a vibrant life with love and laughter.

Robert known to many as “Uncle Bob/Scroggs” was a cherished son to Helen and Lynol Scroggins who preceded him in death.  His siblings Phyllis, Patricia, Donald, William and James also preceded him in death.   He reunites with his loving wife, Charlestine, son Robert C. Scroggins, Jr. (Boobie), daughter Denice (Niece) and grandson Desmond Tallie.  Mother-In-Law Aldora Durham, Brother-In-Law Reginald Durham, Nieces; Renita, Annette, Barbara Jean, and a nephew Anthony.  Robert’s family was his pride and joy.  He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

Educated in the Kansas City, Kansas area, Robert attended Douglas grade school and was part of the Sumner High School, class of 1960.  His employment career spanned several decades which included being a Line Operator for General Motors Corporation, a skilled laborer with Shostak Metal Company and he eventually retired from a custodial and resource officer role with the Turner School District.

Robert attended Trinity A.M.E. Church in Kansas City, Kansas where he found community and faith with others.  His passions extended beyond his professional life; he was an avid outdoorsman who reveled in the simple joys of nature.  Robert’s; love for the sunshine, fresh air, swimming, and music—especially the soulful tunes of Motown—brought a rhythm to his life that was as infectious as it was uplifting.

Family gatherings, full of laughter and warmth, were among Robert’s most treasured moments.  He was a master on the grill or “so he thought,” infusing the Bar-B-Que with love and flavor.  He loved every opportunity to bring his family together and helped instill, along with his mother, the annual pilgrimage to Nicodemus, Kansas.  While there, every year he would enjoy the parade, town hall gatherings, family history of storytelling and all the community events.  To him, this symbolized family!

Robert is survived by his children, Robert Anthony-Tony Scroggins (Greta) and Robin Durham Scroggins, a plethora of grandchildren—Jessika Carruthers, Akisha Carruthers, Keith Townsend, Gerisha Atkins, Clarence Smith, Ebony Scroggins, Ta'Reell Ewing (Ryan) —each carrying forward his legacy, He also leaves behind 18 great grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren, sister-in-law’s; Wilma, Betty and Norma all of whom were blessed by his presence.  His extended family and friends, too many to name will forever hold him in their hearts.
