Robert Frank Hussey was born on October 21, 1946; he was the fifth child born to the union of William and Anna Hussey. He was educated in the Kansas City, Kansas public school system. And was a proud member of the Sumner High School class of 1964. He remained active in class activities for many years. Robert was employed by Griffin Wheel Company for over 15 years. Where he also served as a Union Steward for several years. During that period, he also worked part-time for the Wyandotte County Sheriff's Department. He graduated from The Electronics Institute in 1988. Robert went on to work for the KCK Street Department until his health began to decline in the early 2000’s. Determined to remain active, Robert began working for Envision Services for the next several years.
Robert and his siblings were raised in First A.M.E Church. He was a faithful and active member until the total decline of his health. In his many years of service to First A.M.E he served with the Men’s Department, was the Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 11, as well as sung in the Sanctuary Choir. Robert had several hobbies including: photography, music and a good two step, riding his motorcycle, fishing, and camping.
Robert F Hussey passed away on October 16, 2023, at Kaw River Care & Rehabilitation in Edwardsville, KS. He is proceeded in death by his mother Ana King Hussey, his father William Hussey, his brother William Hussey Jr, and sister Rita Hussey – Harvey.
He is survived by his four children Michelle Polk (Eugene), Melvin Brooks, Robin Darden, and Robert D. Hussey (Yancey). Four grandchildren LaShandra Darden, Gary Gillom, Nicole Scott, and Jasmine Mitchell; and six great-grandchildren. Two sisters Diane Maddox and Cassandra Lewis, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Services will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023, at Faith Deliverance Family Worship Center C.O.G.I.C. Visitation will be from 9 AM – 11 AM the Service begins at 11 AM. Burial will be immediately following at Highland Park Cemetery. There will be a repass held at the church. Condolences may be left on the Thatcher’s Funeral Home online guest book for Robert F. Hussey.
