Regina LaVonne “Nina” Thomas
Regina “Nina” was born on May 3, 1951 in Kansas City, Kansas. She was the oldest child born to the late Rosetta Christina (Small) Thomas. She was preceded in death by her father John Connelly and stepfathers, Leroy Thomas, and Starling L. Robinson.
Regina received her education in the Kanas City, Kansas School District at Grant, and Stowe Elementary Schools, Northeast Junior High School. She graduated from Sumner High School in 1969. Regina worked for the Blessed Sacrament Daycare, Christ Temple Nursery, and then the Trinity Kiddie Kollege Day Care School for over 20 years, until her illness.
She received Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Rev. David L. Gray at the Pleasant Green Baptist Church. She later joined the Trinity A.M.E Church of Kansas City, Kansas, where she served faithfully on the Steward Board.
Regina loved her students at Trinity Kiddie Kollege Pre-School and occasionally did private sitting on weekends and during the summers. She was an avid fan of the KU basketball and Chiefs football teams. She loved baking, cooking, and having a good time with family and friends.
She leaves to cherish her memory: daughter: Stephanie (Eubie) Smith of Kansas City, Kansas; granddaughter: JaLynn Smith of Kansas City, Kansas; step granddaughter: Brooklynn Smith; sisters: Rosetta (Donald) Smith of Kansas City, Kansas; Sharon (George) Nichols of Faquay Varina, North Carolina; Thelma Thomas of Mission, Kansas; brothers: Leroy Thomas of Kansas City, Kansas; VanRuss Robinson of Overland Park, Kansas; Aunts: Marilyn Lindsey and Jennie Francis, both of Kansas City, Kansas; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
