RUTH YOUNG Obituary

Ruth Crabtree Young’s appointment with her heavenly father was on December 2, 2024. She has completed her earthly assignment.

Ruth was born on December 22,1931 in Eufaula, Oklahoma to Leo and Jesse Crabtree. She was one of twelve children born to her parents.  Her husband Rembert G. Young Sr. along with both parents and 10 of her siblings proceed her in death.

Ruth received her education through the public school system of Eufaula, Oklahoma.  Graduating in 1951 from Booker T. Washington High School.  She began working on her formal education by attending Langston University and later graduating from Northeast State College in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Receiving a degree in Elementary Education. Ruth’s love for education encouraged her to return to school to receive her master’s in  Elementary Education from Kansas University. She has also completed 26 hours in additional educational studies.

Her Christian Walk began at Brown Chapel Baptist Church in Eufaula, Oklahoma. She moved to Kansas City, Missouri in July of 1962 after marrying Burley Whited and joined Friendship Baptist Church, this marriage was later dissolved. Ruth later joined St. Stephens Baptist Church.  On November 19, 1992, she married Rembert G. Young Sr. and moved her membership to Young Memorial Church of God and Christ.

Ruth began her tenure with The Kansas City Public School system in 1962 and provided 32 years of educating the children of Kansas City with love (She continued to see and speak with previous students). During her teaching career she was nominated to receive the Excellence in Teaching award in 1984 & 1986 with Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers.  She also worked for Sears Roebuck and Company and Elliott Retirement Home.

Ruth would jump into her convertible and enjoy the drive and the wind to Eufaula, Oklahoma to see her family members often. She loved to travel, if she wasn’t driving, she would often fly and has visited several cities.  Her travels continued after her marriage to Rembert Young until their health failed. Her love for educating children brought her to often support children in fund raising events and she has become an annual supporter of the Back-to-School Supplies give away for The Church of the Living God. Her faith in the Lord, beautiful smile and warm heart has brought her the love of many. What she knew and stated often was that Jesus Was the Best Thing That Ever Happened to her.  Ruth is sleeping now and waiting for the return of the Lord to paradise.  We know that she has been anchored in the word of God and she has not perished but has everlasting life for she truly believed in the Son of God.

She leaves to cherish her memories: Nadine Baker: sister; Mark Hayes and Elizabeth Ruth Hayes, Sharlene Crabtree (Special nephew and nieces). Nieces and Nephews: Joyce Crabtree, Oklahoma; Homer Fullove Liberty, Mo.
