RODNEY CLIFFORD CUNNINGHAM

Rodney Clifford Cunningham was born in Kansas City, Kansas on April 8, 1965, to mother, Thelma J. Reed-Cunningham and father, Rev. Huie T. Cunningham.

Rodney was baptized at an early age under the leadership of the late Rev. Russell Davis at Christ Church of the Jesus Hour in Kansas City, Kansas. In his adult life he became a member of the AME Church, where his father the late Rev Huie T. Cunningham pastored several churches. Rodney diligently participated in being an honorary missionary where he was the photographer and DJ for many programs. He was currently a member of St. Paul AME Church, Kansas City, Kansas.

Rodney graduated in 1983 from Wyandotte High School. He attended Ottawa University on a football scholarship. He was previously employed for Medical Lodge North, Unified Government in the Dept. of Weights and Measures, and the KCK Fire Dept. If you knew Rodney, you knew he loved his Cadillac and keeping it super clean at every carwash in the Kansas City area.  He served with dignity, grace, and kindheartedness in all his career choices.

Rodney's laugh and smile were contagious; he was a great listener; he was a devoted family man, loyal confidant, and the GREATEST husband, son, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend anyone could ever ask for. He LOVED his family unconditionally. He was loved by many, and his presence will truly be missed.

Rodney was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma J. Cunningham, father, Rev. Huie T. Cunningham, mother-in-law, Debra Gates, aunts Bernice Jackson, Judith McElwee, Frances Gordon, Mary Randall, and uncles Phillip “Butch” Randall, and Jimmie Jackson, sister in law, LaRita, and Johnetta preceded him in death.

Rodney is survived by his wife, Vonya Fountain-Cunningham; sister, Rhonda Cunningham-Green,( Charles “Chuck”) father in law, John Jones, children Rodney, (Alicia), Denzel, Yavon, Keith, Antonieo, Vonnesha; grandkids, Keyvon, Jaivaughn, Amarion, Deshawn, Keyon, Jackson, Ebony, Amiya, Kevion, Devon, Anaiya, Angel, and a special love granddaughter Renee, aunt, Leona Franklin (Darryl), uncle, Robert Gordon, nephew, Josef Cunningham, great nieces, the one and only Jada, Paige, Daya, Khia, brother in law, James, sister in law, Nicole, and a host of cousins and friends.
