Phillip Wayman Jones was born on November 12, 1943, in Kansas City, Kansas, the eldest of ten children born to George Lee Jones and Violet Corean Blair Jones. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda M. Wiggins Jones; his parents; his brothers, Bruce Edmond Jones and Reginald Eric Jones; and his sister, Vickie Denise Douglas.
Phillip was educated in the Kansas City, KS public school system and proudly graduated from Wyandotte High School with the class of 1962. Following graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army, where he honorably served for three years. A lifelong learner and advocate for education, Phillip earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from John F. Kennedy College in Wahoo, Nebraska, and later obtained a Master's degree in Business Administration from National University in San Diego, California.
His dedication to excellence and education propelled him into a successful and rewarding career spanning more than four decades in the safety and logistics industries. Phillip held management positions with several respected companies, including Mobil Chemical Company, Federal Express (FedEx), American Springs Water Company, Artesyn Solutions, Inc., and Yellow Roadway Corporation. While at FedEx, he served as the Training Manager for the Western Region, overseeing operations across ten states: California, Washington, Oregon, Iowa, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, Montana, and Wyoming. Phillip took great pride in this role, forming lifelong connections with his colleagues and leaving a lasting impact on those he worked with.
Phillip gave his life to Christ at an early age and remained a devoted servant of the Lord throughout his life. While living in Pennsylvania, Phillip joined The Church in the Round Church of God in Christ, where he was a member for over 25 years. In recent years, he joined Christ Temple Community Church in Yuba City, where he was a faithful member for ten years. He served diligently in various church ministries and was also a proud and active member of the Masonic fraternity. His commitment to service extended into his community, where he regularly volunteered and supported local initiatives.
Family was Phillip's greatest treasure. He shared a unique and loving bond with each of his siblings and looked forward to family reunions and special gatherings. In September 2004, he married Linda M. Wiggins, and together they made their home in Yuba County, California until her passing. Though Phillip had no biological children, he cherished his many nieces and nephews, taking an active interest in their lives and offering wisdom, love, and support.
Phillip's memory will be lovingly cherished by his brother, Michael O. Jones, Sr (Robin) of Kansas City, KS; five sisters: Debra E. Norman of Kansas City, KS; Madelyn S. Robinson (Earl) of Spring, TX; Stephanie J. Grady (Harley) of Kansas City, KS; Rowena B. Hall of Garland, TX; and Valeria C. Jones of Kansas City, KS. He also leaves behind one aunt, Opal J. Hampton of Pasadena, CA; three generations of nieces and nephews; a host of cousins; dear friends including Gil, Karen, & Heather Bodden, James Murphy, Mike & Eva west, and Cheryl at WinCo; and many other relatives and friends whose lives wee enriched by knowing him.
