Patricia J. Hussey

Patricia J. Hussey, lovingly known as Pat, was a woman whose life was rooted in faith, family, and quiet strength. Born on August 1, 1949, in Kansas City, Missouri, Pat was the eldest of four children and carried that role with grace and responsibility throughout her life. She had a gentle spirit, a deep love for music—especially gospel, jazz, and blues—and found joy in reading, playing cards, and simply being with the people she loved.

Family meant everything to Pat. She married William Hussey in 1973, and together they shared 17 years of marriage before his passing in 1990. As a mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great‑grandmother, she was a steady source of love, wisdom, and encouragement. Her presence was comforting, and her care for others never went unnoticed.

Pat was also a resolute worker and provider. She spent 33 years with Southwestern Bell before retiring and later continued serving her community as a school secretary with Kansas City Public Schools (USD 500) for 14 more years. Her work ethic reflected her character, dependable, 
humble, and committed.

Her faith was central to her life. Baptized at an early age, Pat remained active in church and was a faithful member of St. Paul AME Church, where she sang in the choir, served as a trustee, and participated in the Woman’s Missionary Society until her health declined.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brother Darrell. She leaves behind a legacy of love carried on by her children, two daughters- Nikita Lewis Maddox and Rhonda (Brian) Broadus of Kansas City, KS; four sons - Damon (Belinda) Broadus of Ballwin, MO; DeJuan Broadus in Kansas City, KS; Lamont (Tonya) Smith of Davenport, IA; and Roy Redmon in Kansas City, MO), siblings, Paula (Lonell) Ridley and Sheila Guess, both of Kansas City, KS, grandchildren Kierei Broadus, Kayla Crockett, Dominique & Jali Broadus, Tyra (Miles) Boell, Melissa & Kennedi Smith, Brian Wallace Jr., Ramir, Carter, Cameron, Darieus, Justin and Jessica, great‑grandchildren, extended family, and many friends who will forever cherish her memory.
