Patrick L. Bettis, Jr. passed away January 18, 2024. He was born in
Mobile, Alabama on April 16, 1947 to Patrick and Leola Bettis. He was the
oldest of seven children. He received his elementary education in Kansas
City, Kansas and graduated from Sumner High School in 1965. He is
preceded in death by his parents.
He served two years in the United States Army as a tank gunner in
Germany. He worked as a welder and a builder. He retired from Colgate-
Palmolive.
He was an avid reader and he had varied interests, some of which
included fishing, cooking and horseback riding. He was a cowboy at heart,
having owned a few horses in his lifetime.
He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and was a member of Forest
Grove Baptist Church, Kansas City, Kansas, under the pastorate of Rev.
Desmond Lamb.
He loved spending time with family and friends and he will be greatly
missed.
He leaves to mourn his passing: daughter, Tynisha Bettis; sons: Kenneth
Gregory, Patrick Bettis, III (Christina), and Lester Jackson; 7 grandchildren:
Brooklyn, Joshua KeithPatick, Angelique, Jacob, Jaxton, Amira, and Julian;
brother: Roderick (Anita) Bettis; sisters: Patricia (Marvin) Brandon, Benay
Bettis (Rick), Benita (Robert) Davidson, Carolyn (Donald) Smith and Phyllis
(Melvin, Jr.) Moore; special brothers: Robert Crift and Albert Becerra; a host
of nieces, nephews and friends.
