Pamela Lynn Cummings was born February 18, 1962, to the late Jacqueline L. Jones Cummings and Melton Cummings in Kansas City, Kansas. She was their first bundle of joy! She was preceded in death by her mother; sister (Alyssa), and maternal and paternal grandparents.
Pamela or Pam as many of us knew her completed her education in the USD 500 School District attending Quindaro Elementary School, Northwest Middle School and graduating from F.L. Schlagle High School (class of 1980). She furthered her education by attending the University of Kansas in Lawerence, Kansas where she obtained a bachelor’s and master’s degree in nursing graduating with honors. She also holds a master’s degree in interior design as well as religious studies from Faith Bible College.
Pam’s huge heart led her to care for pediatric patients at many hospitals including Providence Medical Center, Kansas University Hospital, and Children’s Mercy Hospital just to name a few. But her passion did not stop there. She continued to spread her love and caring spirit at Arizona Health Services and NAU Chandler-Gilbert Community College. Pam was currently retired and enjoying life.
Pam had many talents. She was an excellent seamstress and baker (if you never tasted her pound cake, you definitely missed out). She was also a lover of flowers, gardening, crafts, and interior decorating. Pam also loved KU basketball “Rock Chalk Jayhawks” and the Kansas City Chiefs, even though she didn’t understand the game of football. As the oldest sibling she was very protective of her younger sisters, always giving her advice, regardless of the outcome. She was a very private person and only allowed very few in her space. She loved all kind of music genres, but gospel was her favorite.
Pam had confessed her faith in Christ at an early age, being baptized at the Pleasant Green Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kansas. She later attended Mount Carmel COGIC and Lenexa Christian Center. Later in life, she moved to Chandler, Arizona, and attended Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church.
Pamela departed this earthly life and was heaven bound on Thursday, December 28, 2023. She leaves to cherish her memories: her father , Melton Cummings (Kansas City, KS), three sisters, First Lady Melanie J. Cummings-Lewis (Calvin) (North Kansas City, MO), Yolanda M. (Petey) Cummings, Aleece L. Cummings-Nunnally (Lester) of Kansas City, KS, and stepsister Caroline D. Green (Edward) Chevyville, TN; nephews; De’Mel (Bryonne) Cummings (Houston, TX), Brent (Chelawnta) Lewis (Kansas City, MO), Lester Nunnally (Kansas City, KS), Vance (Anna) Jackson III (Overland Park, KS).
