Odell Adams Obituary

Odell Adams, age 80, of Kansas City, Kansas. He departed this life on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at  Advena Living of Bonner Springs. He was born on September 4, 1944, in Holly Grove, Arkansas, to the late Willie Adams and Addie Love Adams. He received his early education in Holly Grove, graduating from Holly Grove High School. He furthered his education at Shorter College in Little Rock, Arkansas, Kansas City Kansas Community College, Avila College, and the International Overcoming College of Religion, achieving degrees in Social Work (1999), Criminal Justice, and Drug and Alcohol Counseling, as well as Master’s Degrees in Church Counseling from International Overcoming College of Religion, James Dussault University.

Odell proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force for four years, receiving an honorable discharge in May 1968. His military service included a Small Arms Marksmanship Certificate (1965), Quartermaster School at Fort Lee, VA (1965), and completion of US Air Force Extension Course Institute courses (1966 & 1967). He was also recognized on the Benson Apollo Eleven Roll of Honor.

His professional life was diverse and fulfilling. He attended at the Kansas City School of Aviation and after he worked on Apollo 11. Odell also worked at General Supply and Leasing as a welder. He was self-employed for 26 years, operating Clark Oil and Phillips 66 stations throughout Kansas City, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri.

He also served as a Probation Officer for the Municipal Court Unified Government for 15 years.

In 1972, Odell married the love of his life, Ella Faye Adams, in Kansas City, Kansas. They shared 52 wonderful years together. He lived in Kansas City, Missouri, Kansas City, Kansas, and his birthplace, Holly Grove, Arkansas.

Odell was deeply committed to his faith, accepting Christ at an early age. He joined “Our Lord Church of God in Christ” in 1973 and served as a Sunday School Teacher at McCullough Temple Church of God in Christ.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, LaTrenda Ruth Leach; and his siblings, Robert Adams, Annie Mae McCullough, Willie Mack Adams, De Lois Thomas and Varnell Jefferies.

Odell is survived by his devoted wife, Ella Faye Adams of Kansas City, KS; his children, Danielle Adams, Shenelle Adams Parker, and Denzell Adams; his grandchildren, his great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; a host of other relatives and friends.
