Orlando T. Singleton Sr. entered the world on March 11, 1959, in Kansas City, Kansas, born to Irene Singleton-Sowell and Richard Hughes. Orlando was raised with love and cared for by his mother and father, Elvester Sowell Jr. (Duney). He peacefully crossed over on December 9, 2023. Orlando is preceded in death by his mother Irene Sowell, brother Dante (Tony) Sowell, and his maternal and paternal grandparents. A proud graduate of Sumner High School class of 1977. He married Brenda A. Singleton and together, they had 5 children. In 1982 Orlando joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church and became a faithful member. Orlando was a Supervisor at Stone Container, Resource Police Officer for KCK USD 500, and served a successful career in Law enforcement as a Sheriff, for over 20 years. During Orlando’s career he received many awards and accolades for the great services that he provided throughout the community. Employee of the Month, Reason to Believe Recipient, and Consensus Civility Award. He found joy in the company of his family and friends, often hosting gatherings at his home. These moments were marked by shared laughter, good food, and the warmth of companionship. Orlando leaves behind a legacy of enduring friendships that enriched his journey until its end. He leaves behind wife, Brenda Singleton, Children, Orlando Jr (Whitney), Maurice, Keaton, Jennai (Akis), Carol, and a cherished new granddaughter, Day Alean. His father Elvester Duney Sowell jr (Ester), two brothers Elvester III Sowell (Muncie), and Myron Sowell of Kansas City, Kansas. Uncles, Aunts and a plethora of special cousins, brother and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
