Morris Brown Obituary

Life Epitome of

Deacon Morris P Brown (MPB)

Morris was the third child born to Pinkerton Brown and Roberta McClellan Brown.  He was born in Foreman, Arkansas on April 18, 1937, and later the family relocated to Kansas City.  Morris attended and graduated from Sumner High School; Class of 1956 then went on to join the United States Air Force.  Upon completing his military commitment, he returned to Kansas City to complete his college education in Electronics/Engineering and began his career with Honeywell where he retired after 38 years of service.

Morris met Sharon Thomas “The Love of his Life” and married her on Sunday, April 19, 1964. To their union three beautiful daughters were born which he loved and doted over.

Morris professed Christ and was baptized at an early age; he and his family joined the Second Baptist Church-Argentine under Dr. Roy A. Reed where he continued to serve for more than 60 years.  Morris was dedicated to Christ and the building of the Kingdom.  Serving as an ordained Deacon, Superintendent of School, Minister of Christian Education, Sunday Teacher and New Members/Discipleship Training.  Morris enjoyed the study of God’s Word and engaging in” Lively” discussions that would challenge you to search to scriptures.  He had a true passion for evangelism for the young and old, participating in street witnessing endeavors as well as weekly “Good News Club” as the local elementary school.

While Morris enjoyed the adventures of travel, fishing and golfing, Morris’ true legacy will be for mentoring young men to be Godly, Honorable and Trustworthy; and his philanthropic efforts to assist those in need.   Morris loved God, his family and the church.  He served the Lord with gladness.

On Friday, December 20, Morris went from labor to reward.  He joined his parents and four of his siblings in heavenly rest.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and servant.  Morris will be greatly missed.

He leaves to cherish memories his devoted wife of 55 years, Sharon Thomas Brown, his two sisters, Onie Jean DeBose (Vernon); and Wanda Adams (Nathaniel) both of Kansas City, Kansas; two brothers, James Brown; Donald Brown (Michelle) both of Las Vegas, Nevada; four daughters; Tracy Calhoun (CleArthur); Mia Rhodes (Tyrone); Felicia Solomon (Mark) of Houston, Texas; and Sherry Brown; his granddaughters, Ivory Danielle Motley; and Mia Tiger;  special grandson, Maximilian Solomon; two great-grandsons, (Morris and Mitchell), numerous adopted sons and daughters; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, extended family, coworkers and fellow believers.
