Mignon Roberson

Mignon Roberson passed away on August 18, 2023 at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, KS.  She was born on April 6, 1940 in Kansas City, KS to Anthony and Bessie (Mayberry) Walton. She was the second child born to this union.  She was preceded in death by her father, mother and brother, Anthony Walton, Jr. Mignon accepted Christ at a young age at Trinity A.M.E Church (KCKs).

Mignon grew up in Kansas City, KS. She graduated from Sumner High School in 1958.

Mignon married her high school sweetheart, NeVernon Roberson in 1959 and to this union, three children were born. 

She was employed as a nurse’s aide at Douglas Hospital in Kansas City, KS until 1961.  She was also employed at Sears and Roebuck Co. as a customer service representative and then became a stay-at-home mother until 1971 when she then began work at Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. until her retirement in 1996.

Mignon enjoyed reading novels, traveling, cooking, socializing with family and friends and singing. She was an active member at Fellowship Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where she served on several auxiliaries and sang in the choir until she became disabled in later years.

Mignon was known for her spunky personality, loving and caring heart and giving spirit.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 64 years, NeVernon Roberson, daughters, Vernesa Herbert (Wilton) and Lisa Roberson, son, David Roberson (Taylor), grandchildren, Natalie Rocheh (Joshua), Sarah Herbert, Alisha Boyd (Jamie), Allen Herbert and Ethan Roberson, great-grandchildren, Levi, Jacob, Micah, Marshall and Bentley and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

The family wishes to acknowledge and extend their deepest gratitude and appreciation for all prayers, acts of kindness and concern during the loss of our loved one.  Special thanks to KU Medical Center, Providence Medical Center and Faith Home Health Care for the care given to our loved one during her illness.  May the Lord bless and keep you all.
