Michael Elmer French returned to our God and creator on November 22, 2025. Born October 7, 1950 to parents Hezekiah and Elsie French,
Michael grew up in Kansas Citv, Kansas, and graduated from Sumner High School in 1968. He was baptized by Rev. E.A. Freeman at the First Baptist Church, 500 Nebraska Ave. in 1960. As a child at First Baptist, he participated in the Sunday School and the Baptist Youth Fellowship. Michael sang in the youth choir and was a member of the Boy Scouts.
During and after high school, he worked alongside his father at Heze's Bar B Q, famously known for its barbecue sausage. After the Barbeque restaurant closed in 1976, he began a long career at Colgate Palmolive working as a Shipping Clerk for 30 yrs.
Upon retiring from Colgate, he lived a simple life, occasionally enjoying fishing. He enjoyed watching sports and supporting his favorite football team, the Denver Broncos.
Michael was married to his wife Elizabeth for over 30 years. He was proceeded in death by his parents, his brothers, John Barnett, Thomas Barnett, Kenneth Barnett, and Hezekiah French Jr. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth of Kansas City, Kansas: son Diallo J. French of Kansas City, Missouri: daughter Rashanda M. Taylor of Kansas City, Missouri, sisters Yolande Daniels, Kansas City, Kansas; Leatha French-Ingram, (Johnny), Independence Mo; Maeday Howell, (Robert), Montgomery Ala.; step- children, Christopher Hill, Bruce Walker, Les Bradford, Nathaniel McElroy, and Kathleen McEIroy, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Michael will truly be missed by all those who loved him.
