Obituary for Maurice Lindsey Carter
We celebrate the life of Maurice (Jody) Lindsey Carter, who passed away on September 19, 2025, at the age of 54. Maurice was born on December 24, 1970, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Jula Mae Carter and Gene T. Williams.
Maurice worked faithfully throughout his life—first as a metro driver, then later as a truck driver for over 20 years. He took great pride in his work, always dedicated to doing his job well and with integrity. Those who knew him admired his strong work ethic, easygoing nature, and the kindness he showed to everyone he met.
Maurice will be remembered as a beloved family member and loyal friend. He had a big heart, a good sense of humor, and a quiet strength that touched the lives of many.
He is survived by his siblings—Janice, Gene, Mark, Pamela, and Bobby—as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jula Mae Carter and Gene T. Williams, and his grandmother, Ella Rae Dale.
A service to honor Maurice will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Thatcher’s Funeral Home, 1520 North 5th Street, Kansas City, KS 66101. Visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a Service of Remembrance from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of his life.
Though he has left this earthly journey, Maurice’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
