Mark’s Life Story
Mark Anthony Patino was born on September 21, 1986, to Rossana Griffin (Llanto) in Cebu City, Philippines. At the age of 6, Mark moved to Kansas City, Kansas when Rossana met and married William Brooks. He would later have 2 younger sisters, RoseMarie and Mary Alice Brooks.
As a student in the USD500, Mark excelled in his education from Douglas Elementary, to Central Middle School, and then Sumner Academy. Mark graduated from Bishop Ward High School in 2005
Mark went on to achieve his Bachelor of Arts degree from Donnelley College in 2009. Before his passing, Mark was enrolled in another program to obtain his Master’s Degree in Education. He most recently worked as a Paraprofessional at The Kansas State School for the Blind where, he enjoyed working with both blind and deaf students.
As an active member of his parish, Our Lady and St. Rose Catholic Church, Mark began serving on the altar at a young age and later joined The Knights of Peter Claver in 2013. Mark volunteered much of his time with the church through various events and activities.
Mark loved to read books, go on walks, and made friends everywhere he went. In his spare time, Mark enjoyed spending time with his family and calling those he did not see often. He was a good friend, honorable son, and admirable brother.
Mark passed away on April 8, 2022. He is preceded in death by Ignacio Patino (grandfather); Resurrection Llanto Patino (grandmother); William Brooks (stepfather); John Brooks (stepbrother); and a host of uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Mark leaves behind his mother, Rossana (John Griffin); sisters, RoseMarie (Gary Wayne); and Mary Alice Brooks; and nieces, Sofía Wayne; and Emilia Wayne. As well as a host of siblings and relatives with the Brooks family, Griffin family, and Llanto/Patino family.
