MARYLIN WRIGHT Obituary

Marylin June Phillips-Wright was born in Kansas City, Kansas on June 10, 1954 to the late Henry B. Phillips of Oklahoma and Rosie Lee Seals of Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was the sixth child of nine children.

Marylin was a logical, strong and God-fearing woman; who was unique and caring. Her strong faith in God blessed the lives of so many people that she came across. Marylin was a devoted mother and worked hard to raise her two beloved daughters, Delores and Dania. On September 14, 1990, Marylin married her husband, James and gained 8 more children that she cared for and loved.

Marylin attended Kansas City, Kansas Community College, majoring in accounting; her path broadened, and it became clear as God opened the door for her at Boilermaker’s National Health & Welfare Funds where she started out in the mailroom and retired being one the first African American accountants at the company.

She loved the lord and devoted her time studying GOD’s word and listening to gospel music. She enjoyed attending Living Word

Church until her health failed. Marylin was interested in current events and did not mind telling you where she stood on the important issues of the day.

At the age of 54, Marylin was diagnosed with breast cancer. After 5 years in remission, she was diagnosed with small cell cancer which led to her homecoming. Marylin transitioned to peace on August 4, 2024 after valiantly fighting Pancreatic cancer.

Marylin was proceeded in death by her sisters Ruby Jean Phillips and Faye Rose Phillips-Bass. Marylin is survived by her brothers, Leland Phillips and Floyd Phillips, her sisters, Juda Bradley, Lovetta (Henry) Pressley, Ostell (Kenneth) Rowe, Joann Phillips.

Marylin leaves to cherish her memories her loving husband of 34 years, James Wright, her daughters; Delores Ann Phillips and Dania Louise (Michael Miller) Phillips, 8 step-children; Evelyn Wright, Carolyn (Elmer) Thomas, Michael(LaToria)Wright, Michelle (Marty) Horton, Patricia (Eric) Calhoun, Patrick Wright, Ira Wright, and Laronda Leveringston, 40 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
