MARSHALEA SMITH-COLEMAN Obituary

Marshalea Denise Ivory-(Smith) Coleman, 57, passed away on October 17, 2024, at her Home in Kansas City, KS.

She was born on November 19, 1966, in Kansas City, KS to Dolores Johnson Ivory and Joseph C. Ivory Sr., who preceded her in death.

Marshalea grew up in Kansas City, KS, and graduated from Schlagle High School. She received certification as a CNA and Pharmacy Technician from A.V.T.S. and Community College. Throughout her life, she held various positions. After many years, she retired as a Benefit Insurance Receptionist at the University of Kansas Hospital.

Marshalea accepted Christ at an early age. She attended Decision Baptist Church and was a member of Sheffield Family Life Center.

She loved to cook and cater for events. Marshalea loved her pet cats. Especially her “King of Cats” “Sebastion”.

She loved life, she was a nurturer. Marshalea had no natural children but was a mother to all her nieces and nephews, they used to call her “momma Shale.” She loved her family deeply and enjoyed close ties with her beloved friends.

We will remember her gentle loving heart always.

Marshalea is survived by her husband Martin Coleman; five siblings, Cynthia Hines Davis of Dallas, TX, Francine Griffin of Kansas City, KS, Joseph C. Ivory Jr. of Kansas City, KS (Neomia Ivory), David C. Ivory of Kansas City, KS and Anthony C. Ivory (Carminya); nieces, Victoria Muckelroy, Tabitha Hayes, Meggan Hayes, Keisha Sullivan, Latasha Brown, Ladana Ivory, Majesty Ivory; nephews, Anthony Hayes, Adam Hayes, Jomar Ivory, Monterio Ivory, Montana Ivory; great nieces and great nephews; one Goddaughter; special friends, Tomasha Carter, Linda Smith, Jerome Hill, and Vervina Renee; and a host of other relatives and friends.
