Her Story

Lynn Marie Coleman, 65, passed away on August 27, 2020 at 10:00 P.M. at North Kansas City Hospice in North Kansas City, MO. She was born on July 5, 1955 in Kansas City, KS to Albert and Jacqueline (Nichols) Coleman.

Lynn grew up in Kansas City, KS and graduated from Washington High School in 1973. After high school she attended Langston University for a short time and then joined the Army in 1975 and served for 3 years traveling and playing basketball and was part of the military police.

She became a member of St. Peter CME under Reverend James T. Morris. She enjoyed listening to gospel music, dancing, and praising the Lord with her friends and family. She also enjoyed shopping for clothing and shoes along with enjoying good food and fun. Beyond her struggles with mental diagnoses, she had a zeal for life, and had a heart of gold. She helped care for her children and others whenever she could. She was also a mentor to young people she came in contact with.

Lynn was preceded in death by her father Albert B. Coleman, her mother Jacqueline Coleman, and her brother Albert B. Coleman, Jr.

Lynn is survived by her sons Magic (Nakishia) Coleman of Charlotte, NC and Jon Coleman of Kansas City, KS; her brother Lelond F. Coleman of Kansas City, KS; grandchildren Nimeesha, Desmond, Devin, Donvan, and Malachi, her nieces and nephews Jamila, LaChez, Yentl, and Broderick; her close, devoted friends Janice Spratling, Vivian Caldwell, Sarah Harris, Peggy Stamps, Sandra Jackson, and other friends and relatives.
