Louritha Shaffer

Louritha Shaffer, 83, passed away on June 27, 2025, at her son's and daughter-in-law's home in Kansas City, MO. She was born on September 11, 1941, in Flora, Mississippi, to Leonia and Virginia Huges Walker. Louritha grew up in Kansas City, KS. She graduated from Sumner High School in Kansas City, KS. After high school, she attended the area Vocational Technical School in Kansas City, KS, where she received a certificate in office and clerical skills. Louritha began work for Brand & Puritz Bettina Clothing as a seamstress, where she worked for over 20 years. She retired in 2003, working in the health industry at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Louritha was a devoted Jehovah's Witness. Louritha married Willie F. Shaffer, Jr., in 1963 in Kansas City, KS. They were happily married for 58 Years. Louritha enjoyed sewing, upholstery, home and interior decoration, gardening and grooming her flowers, cooking, tv shopping, ventures to Walmart, JCPenny with her sister and traveling. Louritha was preceded in death by her parents, Leonia and Virginia Walker; her husband, Willie F. Shaffer, Jr.; her sons, Dr. Willie F. Shaffer, III, Darin J. Shaffer, and daughter-in-law, Cathy Shaffer. Louritha survived by her son Derrick (Monica) Shaffer of Kansas City, MO; her sister Mary Alberty of Kansas and Leatha Holliday of Atlanta; grandchildren Dishon (Jaeshell), Caleb, Abram, Cassia; great grandchildren, Samiya and JaNiya; her daughter in -law Deborah; sister-in-law Evelena Blackwell of Kansas, sister-in-law Jan Shaffer, Essie Carter of Chicago, Lillie Shaffer of Chicago and Penny Govan of Chicago; special nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends
