Life’s Reflections

Lonnie Edward Davis lovingly known to his family and friends as “LD” went to sleep to be with Christ our Savior on Friday, October 14, 2022, at the age of 71.  Our beloved Lonnie Davis  was born September 14, 1951, in Argentine, Kansas to the union of Jewell and Odessa Davis, both parents; two sisters, Jewellian Davis Lewis; and Nadine Davis; two brothers, Lee Davis; and Robert Davis; all preceded him in death.

Lonnie was an amazing storyteller, who shared sketches of his life with his loved ones.   As a child “LD” joined the 2nd Metropolitan Baptist Church in Argentine, Kansas he later attended St. John C.O.G.I.C under pastor Dennis Mills where he diligently served as Deacon, continuing his journey in Christ, he joined the New Jerusalem Pentecostal Church under the leadership of Pastor Dr. Donnie Mitchell, where he remained a faithful member until his passing.

Lonnie graduated from Argentine High School and went on to join the United States Army.  He served as an E6 Staff Sergeant for 18 years.  He was a decorated soldier who earned a Vietnam Service Medal, three Bronze Service  Stars and an expert Badge in Rifling M-16 Intelligence. He also completed NCO Leadership School.

Lonnie married Christa Conway and to this union two children were born, Yolanda Davis and Lonnie E. Davis Jr.  This union was later dissolved.  On August 24, 1983, Lonnie married Edinia Jones joining their families as one. They were happily married for 39 years.

“LD” lived a full life and especially enjoyed entertaining his family and friends.  He will always be remembered for the joyous holidays, road trips, and recipes he so enjoyed cooking.  He shared his unconditional love and spirit for future generations to live by.
