Life’s Reflection

Mrs. Lillian V. Hunter Standley was born on May 14, 1930 and grew up in Meridian, Mississippi with her Father and Mother Everett & Viola Hunter. Mrs. Lillian V. Hunter Standley has seven other siblings: William Hunter, Verdel Hunter, Bill Hunter, O’delia Brown, and Mayola Estelle all preceding her in death. She leaves to mourn two remaining siblings, her sisters: Sarah Edwards and Myrtle McNealy of Kansas City, Kansas.

At the age of eight years old, Ms. Lillian V. Hunter sang with a family group called the Zion Singers in Meridian, Mississippi. In May of 1950, Mr. Leo Standley & Ms. Lillian V. Hunter were united in Holy Matrimony in Monticello, Arkansas then moving from Bonner Springs, Kansas for a few years and then to Kansas City, Kansas.

Mr. Leo & Lillian Standley had nine children from their Holy Union: Deloris Lee, Barbara Byas, Leo Standley Jr. (Cynthia), Leon Standley, Ella Buckley (deceased), Eddie Standley (Denise), Sylvester Standley (deceased), Dean Standley (Octavia), and Eyvonne Henderson (Daniel) 

In 1974, Lillian Standley & Viola Hunter Started the Good Samaritan Prayer Band - a traveling & gospel singing family group.

In 1980, Mrs. Lillian Standley Pastored at the Good Samaritan Church for Many years with Pastors Kenneth Draper & Joe Parades. The Good Samaritan Prayer Band no longer traveled at this time.

Between June 2011- May 2020, Mrs. Lillian Standley sang at the Shawnee Gardens Nursing Home with Family. Mrs. Lillian Standley, was a very strong woman of God, highly respected and known by many. Mrs. Lillian Standley helped & loved all while; persevering & enduring many trials, keeping the faith, and holding on to our Lord & Savior awaiting her final call and deliverance from this world. Mrs. Lillian Standley was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Lillian Standley leaves to mourn a host of siblings, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, relatives, family, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
