Life Reflections

Lance Elmon Owens, Jr. affectionately known by family as “Pooh” or “Poohdah” entered this life on July18,1992 in Shawnee, Kansas to Ester L. Reed and Lance E. Owens Sr. He departed this world on Sunday, March 21, 2021 and transitioned to be with the Lord. Lance was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Alvin Reed, Sr., his aunt Gloria M. Reed, his cousins Charles Reed, Jr., and Howard Jones, Jr.

Lance received his education in Kansas City, Kansas Public School District attending Eugene Ware Elementary school, Coronado Middle School, and he graduated from Schlagle High School in May of 2010. He went to truck driving school at Apex Truck Driving school and received his CDL.

Lance accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the Late Pastor D. D. Miller, Jr. At the age of 4 Pooh would recite the 23rd Psalms from memory at anyone request.

Lance was employed as a truck driver by Panera, Hogan, Deffenbaugh, and current employer Trillium Trucking. He enjoyed spending time with his kids, family, and friends. He loved to work and hang with his friends. He was his family’s big teddy bear. He had a heart as big as the world. There was nothing he would not do for anyone unless he could not.

Lance  leaves to cherish his memory 3 children: Noah Owens, Laylah Owens, & Lauryn Owens, a fiancée: Quanisha Garlington,  his parents: Ester & Gregory Jordan, Lance & Cheryl Owens: his maternal grandmother: Margaret Reed, paternal grandparents: Elmon and Tecennia Owens, 2 siblings: Dishaun Phillips, & Alisha Owens, 9 step-siblings: Tyeisha Jordan, Gregory Jordan Jr, Ciera Jordan, Tracy Jordan, Dominee’ Branham, Brianna Kulas, Cortez Jordan, Eddie London Jr., Rochelle Jackson-Rogers 5 Uncles: Alvin Reed Jr (Sondra), Charles Reed Sr (Anissa), Willie McInnis, Randy Owens, & Maron Jackson, 8 aunts: Catherine Laster (James), Emma Banks (David), Eunice Reed, Idella Reed, Janetta Spencer (William), Dora Howard (Adolph), Susanne Robinson & LaVeda Carvin (Arthur), a host of cousins: Aaron McGee, Ja’Nene Williams, Kyra Fields (Abdul), Schaunta Hanson (Marcus), Jamie Ross, Jason Reed, Dominic Miller, Ciera Drew, Chyann Miller, Chaterion Lasley (Jamone), Jorden Reed, De’Vonte McElroy, Jajuan Reed, Nevaeh Henderson, Tyrell Harris, D’Mikel Reed, Tra’Von Owens, Lakendrick Owens, William Spencer V, Diana Spencer, Urijah Jackson, Cornelius Payne, Erica Tisby (Antoine), Carl Anderson III, & Al Davis III, Willie McInnis Jr., Felicia McInnis, Tameika Carter, & Chanita Carter, and 4 really good friends: Carl Dawson, Gerardo Rodriguez, Carlos Fields, & Destin Locke and a host of other relatives and friends.
