Kevin Whitman

Kevin Michael Whitman 69, passed away on September 14, 2023 at 11:00 pm at Summit Nursing Home in Kansas City, Mo. He was born on December 13, 1953 in Kansas City, KS to Robert Whitman and Margaret D. Burkehead. Kevin grew up in Kansas City, KS. He did not graduate from high school.

After dropping out of school Kevin worked at various jobs as a cook or dishwasher. He finally found a job at Savory Grill where he met the mother of his child Diane. They began to date and here comes Michael that relationship ended. Kevin later on married that marriage ended in divorce. Kevin worked more jobs as a cook in other restaurants and bars. After Savory Grill, he worked at St. Joseph Hospital,  Sharps Bar & Grill, Westport Flea Market Bar, News Room Bar & Grill, and Twin City Tavern. Kevin had to stop working because his health began to fail him. Kevin loved and cherished his children Michael and Michelle. Kevin enjoyed cooking and trying different kinds of recipes. He loved his music, CDs, television, and meeting and talking to people about the old days. But most of all Kevin liked to relax sit down and have his cigarettes and a cup of hot coffee. That’s what made Kevin happy.

Kevin was preceded in death by both of his parents Margret Burkehead and Robert Whitman, 1 sister, Sharon Whitman, and his daughter Vanisha Michelle Welchen.

 Kevin is survived by his only son Vernon Micael Welchen of Kansas City, MO; his only sister Karen-Whitman( Booker) and brother-in-law ( Tony) of Kansas City, KS; 4 grandchildren: Deijon M. Welchen, Deon V M Welchen, Mayia N. Welchen and Alegin M Welchen; 5 Great Granddaughters: Brynleigh A. Welchen, Brielle A. Welchen, Bella A. Welchen, Essence N. Wiley, and Eriyah N. Wiley; and a host of nieces and nephews: a host of other relatives and friends.
