Life’s Reflection
Kevin Cornell Terry was born on February 11, 1969, to L. D. and Nellie Terry in Brookhaven, MS. Kevin accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and went on to be actively involved in several churches.
The family relocated to Kansas where Kevin attended and completed his education in the Kansas City, Kansas school system. He graduated from J. C. Harmon High School. He attended college classes and other training academies throughout the years. He began to work at the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department in 1987 and served proudly and enjoyed an outstanding career in Law Enforcement until he retired in 2019 at which time his family had a large retirement celebration for him.
He believed that Police – Community relationships are important and was actively involved in several Community outreach programs.
To really know Kevin was to love Kevin. He had a heart of gold and was generous to others. He was dearly loved and cherished by his parents, brothers, sisters and his daughter and grandchildren.
He had this special way of laughing that was mostly a chuckle that would draw you in to where you were enjoying the laugh too.
He adored his daughter, and his grandchildren were the delight of his life. He loved to travel and take his daughter, family, and friends on trips with him. Travel with him was enjoyable and fun, whether it was to cities, through the mountains on the beaches or small towns.
After he retired, some of his siblings witnessed some inhabitants of a small southern town try to get him to accept their job as Chief of Police. Kevin just had that capable air about him.
Kevin was preceded in death by his Father, L. D. Terry, Mother, Nellie Terry, and three brothers, Ralph Terry; Charles Terry; and Jackie Terry, Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Anjanae Terry; his three grandchildren, Honesty; Hezekiah; and N’Lya; three brothers, Bobby (Rene) Terry, Kansas City, KS; Larry Terry, Overland Park, KS; Gill (Vicky) Terry, Grandview, MO; three sisters, Iris (Harry) Banks, Lenexa, KS; Mable (Mike) Harris, Grandview, MO; and Kayla (Rick)Smith, Kansas City, KS; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
