Kevin Newman Sr. Obituary

Life’s Reflection

We are eternally grateful for God, blessing us with the life of a wonderful son, father, grandfather, brother, loving uncle, and friend to so many. Kevin Darryl Newman Sr… We love you more than words can express.

Kevin Newman Senior was born June 1, 1965 in Kansas City, Kansas to the late Samuel Newman and Doris Greene Newman.  He was the 3rd child, out of the four children. He was raised in a Christian home and was baptized at the age 5. He attended Sunday School.

Kevin attended Washington High School where he played on the Wildcats Football Team as star player #75.  He graduated in 1983 from Washington High School.

In 1986 he left Kansas City and moved to Los Angeles, California where he began running his own upscale limousine service, all while maintaining several food distributions, such as Fasco, Cisco & Ralph’s.

He returned back to his birth home in early 2000’s and became a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church family where he was able to live out his passion for music by singing in the male choir.

In 2009 he joined the Kellogg’s family as a forklift operator and safety technician.  Kevin was highly regarded by his fellow co-workers and made a huge impact during his 10-year work span. He will be truly missed.

What a wonderful life Kevin lived here on earth. If you knew Kevin, you know he lived his life to the fullest. He commanded people’s attention with his charismatic and jovial hip personality along with a smile that could light up a room.  His flashy suits, stylish shoes, and comical ways will forever be etched in our hearts.  And most importantly he will always be remembered as Kev D and Big Kev to the ones closest to him.

Left to cherish his memory: his wife Marla; his mother, Doris Green-Newman; his children, Avery Newman; Kevin Newman II; Jasmine Newman; and Nichelle Newman; his 6 grandchildren; his siblings; Victor Newman; Michelle Miller; Sherrie Miller; brother-in-law, Percy Miller; his niece and nephew, Taylar and Sampson Miller; as well as a host of cousins and friends who will all miss dearly.
