Life’s Reflections

Kathy Louise Lucas was born November 8, 1954 to Gloria D. Love-Jefferson and William Frazier Sr.

Kathy grew up in Kansas City, Kansas and graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1972.  She had two beautiful daughters, Angela and Andrea, whom she loved dearly.

Kathy was baptized and accepted Christ at an early age. She spent most of her years servicing the Lord under the leadership of Charles Payne Lucas at First A.M.E Church in Kansas City, Kansas.  Later, Kathy joined Freedom in Christ World Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Sylvester Carter where she remained until the Lord called her home.

After high school, Kathy started her career at the Internal Revenue Service before joining Sunshine Biscuits where she worked 18yrs.  Kathy later joined United Parcel Services where she quickly elevated her career as a Supervisor until her retirement in 2016.

Kathy wasn’t a stranger to the kids around her, she was affectionately known as “Momma Kathy” and treated them as if they were her own.  Anytime you stopped by her house, she always had a hot meal on the stove for all to enjoy.  Kathy opened her home to each and every one of them and they knew her house was a safe place full of love and acceptance.

Kathy was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Sam and Edythe Love, parents Gloria D. Love-Jefferson and William Frazier Sr., sisters; Teresa Moore and Delores Jefferson, brothers; DeWayne Anthony Jefferson and William Frazier Jr.

Kathy was loved by all whom crossed her path and will truly missed.  She leaves to cherish her memories, her long-time companion and best friend, Jerry Block of Kansas City, KS, two daughters; Angela Mimbs (Roy) of Shawnee, KS; Andrea Banks of Jonesboro, GA, grandchildren; Qorie Butler of Powder Springs, GA, Britani Barnett of Lenexa, Kansas, Zakieya Banks of Charlotte, NC, MoVonn Banks of Huntsville, AL, and Vania Barnett of Shawnee, KS; great-granddaughter Peyton Scruggs and soon to be great-grand child due in August 2021; brothers; Grant Jefferson (Peggy) of Kansas City, KS and William (Bill) Jefferson Jr of Little Rock, AR.  Her closest friends Sheryl Barton-McCluney, Lana Barnett and Sharon Evans, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
