Kathlene Harvey was born in Nashville, Arkansas on November 10, 1929.
Kathlene graduated from Sumner High School in 1949. She was baptized at an early and was a 42-year member of Salem Baptist Church. Kathlene met and married Lester C. Harvey, Sr. (Bubble) and to this union six children were born, Lester, Maria, Leon, Dyantha, Cassandra and John Lawrence.
Kathlene was a LPN Nurse for St. Margaret’s Hospital and Wyandotte County Health Department 31 years until her retirement. In 1991 she became the Activity Director at Vernon Center.
Kathlene departed this earthly life on November 3, 2020, the age of 90 at The University of Kansas Medical Center. She touched the lives of everyone she came in contact with in so many ways. Kathlene (MowMow or MawMaw) whichever way her many grandchildren wanted to spell it was truly one of God’s Angels and received her wings.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Joanna (Butler) Atkins; her father, Lafayette Atkins; her husband, Lester C. Harvey, Sr. (Bubble); 2 sons, John Lawrence Harvey and Lester C. Harvey, Jr.; her daughter, Maria S. Kline; two grandsons, Martez Harvey and Ta’Ron T Smith.
Kathlene leaves to mourn son: Louis Leon Harvey; daughters: Dyantha J. Ford and Cassandra B. Smith (Tommy); 14 Grandchildren, 48 Great Grandchildren, 11 Great-Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends and
Kathlene will be remembered as being a loving and caring Mother, grandmother, great grandmother, & great-great grandmother and friends to all who came in contact with her. She lived to see 5 generations.
